Neyagawa City (Neyagawa-shi) is located in the northeast area of Osaka Prefecture,
on the left side bank of Yodogawa River (Yodogawa-sagan) (when looking at the
lower reach from the upper reach). It is 15 km away from the center of Osaka
City, and 35 km from Kyoto City area, extending 7.22 km north to south and 6.89
km east to west with the area of 24.73 ㎢.
It is also the center of Kita Kawachi, bordering on Katano City (Katano-shi)
in its east, Takatsuki City region(Takatsuki-shi) in its west with Yodo River
as the boundary, Moriguchi City (Moriguchi-shi), Kadoma City (Kadoma-shi), Daito
City (Daito-shi), Shijonawate City (Shijonawate-shi) in its south and Hirakata
City (Hirakata-shi) in its north.
The topology of Neyagawa City can be divided into two areas, the hillside area
in the east (Tobu Kyuryo Chitai) and the flat are in the west (Seibu Heitan
Chitai). The east area is a part of the chain of Ikoma Mountains (Ikoma Sankei)
with 50 m above sea level. The west area is flat just 2 to 3 m above sea level
and consists of alluvium (Chuseki-so), called lower swampy zone (Tei Shicchi-tai)
of Kita Kawachi region. The highest point is 109.6 m above sea level that is
situated around Ishi-no Hoden Tumulus (Ishi-no Hoden Kofun). The lowest point
is 0.1m above sea level that is inside Fukakita Ryokuchi.
